About Westwood Elementary
Westwood Elementary is a neighborhood school on the northwest side of St. Cloud. The school has over 620 students in Kindergarten – 6th grade. Our staff of over 75 adults is committed to continuing our tradition of excellence.
We are proud to offer:
- All-Day Kindergarten as well as half-day Kindergarten options
- ELL (English Language Learners)
- Special Education
- Title One
- Gifted and Talented (Academic Achievement)
- Band and orchestra
- Extended Day activities through Targeted Services and Community Ed
We inspire learning through:
- Basic core curriculum of balanced literacy, math, science and social studies.
- Physical education, music and art for all students
- A brand new computer lab as well as computer stations in the media center used for classroom technology and writing projects.
- Academic Achievement program to give students an opportunity to expand their thinking through enrichment activities
- PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) A school-wide initiative to improve our learning climate and promote positive school relationships. We are a PBIS pilot school in Minnesota and partner with the Minnesota Department of Education.
- Monthly student recognition programs
- Family Fun Nights with family dinners, parent workshops and fun activities for students
- Social Worker, School Psychologist and Mental Health Facilitator to provide support to students and families
- Partnerships with local businesses, colleges and other volunteer agencies
- A strong and active PTA
