Career Development Manual - From the Department of Career Services at the University of Waterloo, Canada, this site provides a thoughtful, interactive guide to career planning beginning with a multi-step, self-assessment inventory (step 1) and continuing through Employment Contacts (step 4) to Career/Life Planning (step 6).

JobSmart - Courtesy of the Bay Area (San Francisco) Library & Information System (BALIS), this practical site provides links to resources for planning a career, salary information, resume tips, and real life stories from workers in many fields.

America's Job Bank - America's Job Bank is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Labor and state operated Employment Services. Job seekers may create and post resumes, search for specific jobs by location, agency, or position, and examine job market information such as occupational trends.

Welcome to CareerMosaic - Provides a searchable jobs database, resume posting service, online job fair information, and industry specific employment information. The college connection has internship information and employment resources for college and graduate students, as well as high school students who are planning ahead.

Mapping Your Future - This extensive site provides information and links to a variety of college and career planning organizations. It is sponsored by a group of guaranty agencies that participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) which is committed to providing information about higher education and career opportunities.

Occupational Outlook Handbook - This U.S. government publication describes occupations and for each provides information on the nature of the work, education and training needed, expected earnings and the future outlook for that occupation.

Career Resource Center - Career Resource Center is the Internet's most complete and extensive index of career related web sites. Here you will find over 7,500 links to jobs with Major Employers - jobs posted at Major Newspapers - jobs posted to Internet Newsgroups. In our Learning section you will find links to Colleges and Libraries, while on our Career Reference page you will find links to State Employment Offices, as well as links to a variety of helpful career advice. Look in our Career Services area for links to career professional such as employment agencies, out-placement firms and the like. In the After Hours page look for links to Travel and Recreation, Hobby, Leisure, and other "fun" sites.

Peterson's Education Center - A comprehensive site covering schools, careers, applying for college and financing your education.

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities - This site includes general information on technical and community colleges and state universities plus links to the home pages of all of these schools..

Study Abroad - Listed are thousands of academic programs in more than 100 countries throughout the world, with links to study abroad programs, academic courses, and internships. The programs are searchable by country, subject, and language.

U.S. News and World Report - This comprehensive site includes college and university ranking, reprinted articles from the print edition, listings of women's colleges, black colleges, and more. Features the top 25 schools in several categories taken from the magazine's 1998 edition of America's Best Colleges.

Community Colleges - Courtesy of University of Texas at Austin, this site includes links to state listings of more that 800 two-year, post-secondary institutions offering certificate programs and associate degrees.

Minnesota Higher Education Services Office - To help students and families plan and pay for higher education. Also includes a financial aid estimator that allows students and parents to enter their personal information and use the Minnesota State Grant formula to estimate their financial aid eligibility.

Federal Government Financial Aid Assistance - You'll find detailed information about assistance that is available from the DOE to help students pay for college expenses. CASHE (College Aid Sources for Higher Education) - Sponsored by SallieMae, this online scholarship service is one of the most comprehensive sources of financial aid resources for college. Minnesota Dept. of Economic Security - Includes information on hourly wages for 467 occupations in Minnesota, a list of the top 100 occupations in the state, current job listings and general information about the labor market in Minnesota.

College Board Online is the most comprehensive college information site. This site includes College Board tests, programs, and online registration , a "Test Question of the Day", a searchable database of colleges, financial aid information (including a financial aid calculator), career planning information, a fee-based essay evaluation service, and more.

Peterson's Education Center - includes information about educational programs at all levels and provides searchable databases of colleges and academic programs.

Princeton Review Online - this extensive college and career information site includes timed tests, essay hints, an internship database, job hunting hints, career lists by salary and industry, career profiles, and more.

CollegeView is a free online college search service with profiles of 3,700+ colleges and universities, virtual tours of selected schools, electronic applications, financial aid information, and career planning tools.

Register on-line for the Selective Service

As you may already know, all 18 year-old males are required to register with Selective Service, and you can now register on the Internet. Internet registration is a new service provided by the Agency and registration in immediate. It takes about 10-20 seconds to validate the information input by the young man and then to assign and display his Selective Service registration number for him.
