A note from Principal Ziemann

Good Morning Tech Parents and Learning Community—

Below is an email I sent this morning to our teachers. I thought you might be interested in how important effective parent communication is at Tech and how committed we are to improving that communication.

It’s another beautiful late fall day—one step closer to spring. Enjoy.

Note to Teachers After Conferences: November 17, 2009

I hope that second or third cup of coffee worked, and you are awake after a long night of conferences.

Thanks for your work last night. As you know, we were real busy until about 6:15 and then things dropped off.

What I observed was excellent communication going on--authentic conversations focusing on problem-solving.

Turning to technology for a minute--our increasing availability through email and the Skyward Parent Portal is great--it is also making demands on us. Parents, more than ever, are accessing us about their students' work and progress.

As a reminder: Please be sure to have the information in Skyward so that parents can access it through the Parent Portal. Also, if you get emails from parents, please answer them as quickly as you can. With the flu (which is predicted to increase and not go away until spring) and other stuff, it is even more important to use our technology to help parents and kids know what is required and expected.

Parents also value your insights on how to get their child back on the success track.

If you do not know how to effectively use Skyward or other technology at your disposal, contact Greg Bruestle or Jody Voigt. (The 21st Century is not going to go away ;>) We need to be at the top of our Technology Game.

Thanks for listening. --RZ

A Kiss for

Cinderella
The Tech High School drama program is presenting A Kiss for Cinderella November 12th-14th and November 19th-21st in the South Auditorium at Tech.  The cast of 35 has worked long and hard to produce this classic tale of imagination, romance, and triumph of the human spirit by J.M. Barrie (author of Peter Pan).  Follow the adventures of Cinderella as she works her “magic” on those around her during the difficult period surrounding World War I.  Show times are at 7:00pm on Thursdays and Fridays and 1:00pm on Saturdays.  Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for students.  Please join us for a show that will provide heartfelt moments of joy and laughter for children of every age.
