Physical Description:
The sun bear is half the size of a brown bear. Their ears are smoother than other bears. Their claws are so long they can slice a tree down. Sun bears have very long teeth. They have their name because there's a yellow mark on their chest. Sun bears are the smallest kind of bear. They are good tree climbers. Sun bears mostly go in a tree and sleep in it. They live in the tropical forest of Asia. When it comes to night, their eyes get big and are half of an inch wide when they're in the dark.
Habitat:
Sun bears make their homes in the branches of trees. They like to make a hammock out of branches in a tree to go to sleep. Sometimes branches can be nice for a nest. Sun bears live in the tropical forest of Asia. In the tropical rain forest it will get up to 93 degrees fahrenheit and it will get 90 inches to 260 inches of rain. The tropical rain forest always stays green. The biggest rain forests are in Africa, Asia, Central, and South America. In the tropical rain forest, they can get 200 days of rain a year.
Eating Habits
Sun bears eat all kinds of fruit, vegetables, and meat. If a sun bear lives in a zoo and they behave, they will get a bone. Their dessert would be mealworms, crickets, and peanut butter. In the wild they will eat insects, sap, little birds, honey, lizards, and rodents. Sun bears have a big sweet tooth so they like suck the honey out of the trees.
