Physical Description

A bat has big eyes for seeing in the dark. Their life span is 5-30 years old. They have one baby per year and some have twins. Wings on a bat have the bones as a four fingered human hand. Bats fingers are very long. The wing skin is rubbery. Brown bats are tiny. It has soft brown fur. They have small eyes. The ears are huge. It has a pointed tail. Bats are the only flying animal with fur.

Habitat

Bats live in caves, trees, and man made structures. They migrate during the winter. Blood eating bats live in Mexico. Blood eating bats also live in South America. Some bats live in houses. Some bats make nest out of leaves. There are many species of bats. They are found all around the world.

Eating Habits

Bats eat pollen from flowers and a lot of them eat fruits. They also may eat flying insects and fish. Some may even eat land animals. Baby bats live on milk from their mother for six months. They are nocturnal animals which means they are most active at night and sleep during the day.  They use echolocation with sound waves to find their prey at night.
