Description
Wolves hunt deer, elk, moose, caribou, beaver, rabbits and other small animals. Different pack members may take charge during travel, hunting, feeding and guarding the territory. They are social animals. To survive they must work together.
Habitat
Wolves used to live in most of North America but now they only live in a few places. A few hundred wolves live in Minnesota. The gray wolf,or timber wolf, was the most common wolf. Today the living area of wolves is much smaller then it was 150 years ago.
Interesting Facts
Before the pups are born the mother digs a den or finds a cave. Pups are usually born in the spring. There may be four to six pups in a litter. New born pups are blind and deaf. In about two weeks they open their eyes and they can see and hear.
