Beavers

This beaver is looking at a tree to cut down.

Description

The hind legs of a beaver are different from the front legs. The back legs are more like filppers.  The beaver has 4 cousins; the porcupine, gophen squirrel and the rat. They have huge front teeth for cutting trees down. 

Habitat

Beavers live in wetlands.  They build lodges.  They cut down trees to build lodges.  They eat bark off of trees.

Interesting facts

Beavers know more about water than fish.  Beavers can stay under water for 10 minutes.  15,000 years ago beavers were as big as bears.  Beavers have strong jaws.
