Coyotes

The coyote is looking for something to eat.

Description

Coyotes have strong jaws. They come in many different colors. They have long thin legs and they run fast.  Their babies live in underground dens. They are noisy. They sleep outside.  Sometimes they howl at the moon. They hunt at night. They can weigh 25 to 50 pounds.

 

Habitat

Coyotes live in prairies and grasslands. They only live in North America, Canada and Mexico. They eat small mammals. They eat mostly meat. If their food is scarce they will go into farms to eat chickens and sheep. They will also go into your garbage. Some coyotes live in zoos and rarely in cites.

Interesting Facts

Coyotes are in the dog family. The tips of their tails are black. They hunt in packs. They also eat fruit and seeds. Their babies are called pups. Sometimes they are dangerous. They will work with badgers for hunting their food.
