Description
Mallards have short neck and flat bills. For ducks to fly , they have to jump up and flap their wings. Male mallards have green, white, and brown feathers. Ducks are waterbirds with wings, feathers, and webbed feet. Some mallards dig in dirt to find worms. Some of the ducks can sleep for a long time.
Habitat
Mallards live in many wetlands aroud the world. Mallards build nests by the water. Mallards dip their heads underwater to find food. Mallards swim in lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams. Mallards eat mostly seeds and plants.

Mallards fly to warm places in winter. Mallards tuck their heads into their feathers to sleep. Female mallards have mostly brown feathers. They sometimes eat insects and snails. When ducks are together it is called a flock. Ducks can fly for a long time.
