Animals and Habitats
Second graders researched animals and insects in 3 different habitats. They will visit those habitats at St. John's Arboretum this Spring. |

The Prairie Prairie grasslands grow on every continent except Antarctica. Prairie grasslands receive less rain than forests but more rain than deserts. Common plants found in Minnesota prairies include; purple blazing star, orange butterfly weed and red - golden grasses. The Woodland Trees, shrubs and plants make up Minnesota woodlands. Trees grow tall and short along side umbrella shaped mushrooms. Minnesota woodlands grow very well due to the four different seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. To learn about animals and insects in the woodland, click on the picture above. |

The Wetland
Wetlands are found on every continent except Antarctica. They provide homes for many differents species of animals, insects and fish. The water level in a wetland changes during the year so sometimes dry land becomes wet. Wetlands are endanger of disappearing due to construction of new buildings on them.
