… The
TARGET Team |
What TARGET Does at Apollo High School Every member is expected to attend one monthly large group meeting and
there are weekly leadership meetings for the student representatives. We attend several workshops and leadership training camps throughout the year with TARGET students from other high schools in the 8AA Region. One Friday night a month we get together and go to the movies, hang out at a TARGET members house or do something really fun as a chemically free group. We assist the St. Cloud Police Department with its D.A.R.E. program by attending local elementary schools as Drug-Free Role Models. We assist the Stearns County Sheriff Department with their underage sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors program. We coordinate school-wide food drives to stock local food shelves and perform other youth service activities. We host the Apollo Natural High Day in conjunction with the Apollo Spring Picnic for all the high school students during the month of May each year. We host a banquet once a year for the TARGET members and their parents. We perform a play called "Turn Around," about a young girl involved in drugs. The play, which is performed to music, and without words, concludes with the girl being saved by the love of friends and family. We promote our NON-SMOKIN', ANTI-DRINKIN', DRUG DISSIN', STUDENT message by hanging posters in the school halls, by sponsoring chemically free activities, wearing t-shirts promoting chemically free lifestyles and by role-modeling chemically free behaviors. We support North Junior High with role models and student driven activities several different times a year. We provide support at parent-teacher conferences by greeting parents and students and handing out student schedules. Contact Us TARGET at Apollo High School Minnesota State High School League
