I'm Saving Myself Program comes to ALC Wilson! Under the program direction of Bonita McAfee-Mitchell, Chief Visionary Officer, the Benton Harbor MI based I'm Saving Myself is a national nonprofit organization designed to empower and demonstrate to youth they can preserve their life bymaking positive choices learned from the "I'm Saving Myself" curriculum program. At the end of the rigorous curriculum program that can be integrated at school, community-based organizations, synagogues and mosques, a tour called "Celebrate Life and Pursue Your Dreams" is held. In addition, Grammy and Oscar winner Stevie Wonder remains instrumental in the growth and direction of this program. Each program, workshop and concert tour addresses the issues of abstinence from: sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, suicide, and low self-esteem via the positive expression of song, dance and drama. (excerpt taken from the I'm Saving Myself website). ALC Wilson students along with ALC West students are starting work this week on the production. They will work for the next ten days preparing for what will be an exiting performance. Performances will be next week for the students of North and South Junior High Schools.
