The city water works engineer came to school and gave a talk about the importance of keeping the water (particularily the Mississippi) clean. He also covered how the city water systems and waste management works, as well as the types and descriptions of jobs in his field. We then went out as a group and used stencils to paint reminders by the storm drains that whatever goes in the drains goes directly into the river. We had a fabulous time, and helped out the city and our Hester Park Neighborhood. Check out the article in that was put into the neighborhood newsletter. New Programs for ALC WilsonALC Wilson is in its second year of implemetation of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). This is being used at many St. Cloud area schools already, and results have been excellent. Staff and students practice modeling techniques on a daily basis that supports postive behavior. The end result is a more cohesive staff and exciting learning environment for students. Statistics also show less disciplinary referrals to offices. This year we will introduce a behavior matrix to the staff and students on expected behaviors of students. If you would like more information check out the district's website...click on PBIS
