This is my 8th year coaching for Tech's Track and Field team - 7th as Head Girls' Coach.  While I mainly coach sprints and jumps at practice, I have developed a deep appreciation for all of the events.  Personally, I was a long and triple jumper throughout high school and college.  Last year, our girls team won the Conference, Sub-Section, and Section meets and qualified 10 athletes for the State Meet.  I look forward to working with such a wonderful group of athletes this season.

John Telega has coached 11 years in St. Cloud, starting with cross-country and track at South Junior High and then graduating to Tech in 2001. He has a deep passion for Track and Field.  He has run six marathons, including a 3:38 finish at Grandma's in Duluth in 1998.

I have been coaching track for 15 years - 7 of those years were as a head girls' coach in Iowa and 8 as an assistant boys' and girls' coach in Minnesota.  My specialties include coaching sprints, hurdles, and relays.  My greatest coaching experience was during the 2007 track season at Tech where our athletes broke several school records and many of those records were broken multiple times throughout the season.  My goal in life is to become adept in distance running to a point where I could actually keep up with Telega and Hines.  (To a sprinter, anything over a full lap is distance).

I've coached track and field for 13 years and cross country for 12 years. My primary focus is distance and middle distance running, although I coached shot and discus five years. I ran track at UMD, competing in the 5K and 10K. Personally, I run distance events ranging from 5K to marathons, with a few triathlons and biathlons thrown in for variety.

I have been blessed to be given the opportunity to be a volunteer coach and work with this great group of energetic coaches at Tech High School. Between football, wrestling and track, this will be my 15th year as a Tech coach where I have been able to watch our great student athletes grow. I was a vaulter myself, and am now the Pole Vaulting coach. The benefits are fantastic. Go Tigers! Remember, "It's not the years in your life, but the life in your years"
