John Telega has coached 11 years in St. Cloud, starting with cross-country and track at South Junior High and then graduating to Tech in 2001. He has a deep passion for Track and Field.  He has run six marathons, including a 3:38 finish at Grandma's in Duluth in 1998.

I have 12 years of experience, seven as ahead coach, five as an assistant. My speciality is coaching sprints and relays. I've had athletes qualify for state meets eight of the 12 years I've coached. Several school records were broken during this time. My greatest coaching experience was when all of my sprint relays and opens qualified for the Iowa state championship.

I've coached track and field for 13 years and cross country for 12 years. My primary focus is distance and middle distance running, although I coached shot and discus five years. I ran track at UMD, competing in the 5K and 10K. Personally, I run distance events ranging from 5K to marathons, with a few triathlons and biathlons thrown in for variety.
