TECH GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

VARSITY LETTER CRITERIA

In order to earn a Varsity Letter for girls’ track and field, you need to be a good teammate, display a strong work ethic, perform at a Varsity level, and be a committed student. The list below shows the number of points per criteria for each category. In order to earn a Varsity Letter, you must accumulate 30 points. A Participation Award will be given to an athlete who earns 15-29 points.

ACADEMICS

Earn a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher 4 points

Earn Academic All-Conference 3 points

Earn Academic All-State 5 points

COMMITMENT

Attend Pre-Season Informational Meeting 3 points

Participate in Fundraising Efforts 3 points

Miss 2 or fewer practices (FOR ANY REASON) 6 points

Turn in all equipment at the end of the season 4 points

PERFORMANCE

Participate in a Varsity-Only Meet 1 point each (5 possible)

Make the MN State Honor Roll 2 points

Qualify For True Team State (Whole Team) 5 points

Win Conference as a Team (Whole Team) 4 points

Earn All-Conference 3 points

Earn Honorable Mention All-Conference 2 points

Set a New School Record 2 points

Qualify for Individual State 3 points

Earn All-State Honors 3 points

POINT-LOSS CRITERIA

You WILL LOSE Lettering Points for any of the following actions:

More than 2 excused practices 1 point each

Leaving a Meet Before the Completion of the 4x400 and Camp Clean-up 3 points each

Any Unexcused Practice 10 points each

Being Disrespectful – to yourself, teammates, coaches, competitors, etc. 10 points each

Not Turning in your Issued Equipment 10 points
