What Is No Child Left Behind?
No Child Left Behind (NCLB) is federal legislation that sets high
academic goals and describes school success. Aimed at K-12 education,
NCLB also holds schools accountable for improving student performance.
It ensures high quality instructional staff and promotes parent-school
partnerships.
The Role of the Parent/Guardian
Improved student achievement is based on your child's performance
on a state test.
Be sure your child:
- attends school on time, every day
- has time and space for homework
- has enough nutritious food, either at home or school
- has adequate rest at night
Be sure you:
- know when testing days are scheduled for your child
- attend parent-teacher conferences
- ask your child about school and school work
- share questions and concerns with your child's teachers
