H1N1 Vaccine Clinic Update – November 11, 2009
County public health officials have been in communication with St. Cloud Area Schools regarding H1N1 vaccine availability for school age children. The vaccine allotments to county public health are considerably less than expected. Thus, our public health officials are under direction from the Minnesota Department of Health to begin vaccination of younger school age children, K - age 9 (up to 10 years of age). The Minnesota Department of Health has also stated that these clinics must be held between November 16 and 25th.
St. Cloud Area Schools (public and non public) are located within 3 counties, Benton, Stearns and Sherburne counties. The approach to vaccine distribution differs among the counties.
- In Benton County, children grades PreK - 6 at Lincoln, St. Augustine - St. Mary's Cathedral and the St. Cloud Christian School will be vaccinated, again dependent on vaccine availability. (View schedule)
- In Stearns County, the children vaccinated will be those with underlying health conditions (ages 5 - 9) and children in grades K - 1 - 2, dependent on vaccine availability. (View schedule)
- For children in Sherburne County (those St. Cloud students attending Talahi and Clearview), parents will need to schedule an appointment and take them to the Sherburne County Government Center at 13880 Business Center Drive (Highway 10) in Elk River, Minnesota. (Click here for information)
Parents can expect to receive specific information over the next few days from their child’s school. As more vaccine is made available, we will continue to collaborate with public health officials. Please continue to check back for further updates.
