What is Career and Technical Education?

Minnesota's Career and Technical Education Initiative is dedicated to preparing all Minnesotans for tomorrow's careers, with a mission of creating a seamless system of education and workforce preparation for all learners, tied to the needs of a competitive marketplace.

Overall goals include:

  • assisting Minnesotans in becoming responsible citizens, involved in community service
  • helping them become economic players able to earn a livable wage
  • teaching them to be lifelong learners who take advantage of learning opportunities that match personal growth and career needs
Register for College Prep 101

In collaboration with Fast Forward, Access & Opportunity and Upward Bound programs, any interested students in grades seven through 12 and their families are invited to attend College Prep 101, Jan. 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Learn how to help your child prepare for post-secondary education and what you as a student can do now to prepare for college. This event is free to you and your family. However, pre-registration is required for each event. Click on the link above for more information.
