Boys State
Boys State is a summer program organized by the American Legion and
focused on how our government works. The program is being held June 15 -
21 at Southwest State University in Marshall, MN for students interested
in learning more about the state government. It is a week of intensive
study (and fun!) where participants will actually organize and participate
in the various levels and branches of government. This is a wonderful
opportunity for students interested in legal or government related
careers. It also allows students to get a taste of dormitory living as
they are housed with other participants on the college campus. Tech High
School can select one male student to represent our school. The
registration fee is covered by the local American Legion for the boy
selected to represent Tech. If you want to know more or are interested in
this opportunity please contact Ms. Pfeifer in the Guidance Office.
Open House
We will have our annual open house for next year’s 9th grade
students and parents on Thursday, May 8th at 6:30 p.m. The
Open House will start in the gymnasium and will include brief comments
from students, administrators, and counselors. The evening ends at 8:00
p.m. with refreshments in the cafeteria. Please enter through doors 6, 9
or 10.
Graduation
Tech and Apollo High Schools have announced the decision to move
their graduation ceremonies to Halenbeck Hall, on the campus of SCSU.
Seating capacity at Halenbeck is over 5,000 for a graduation ceremony,
well over expected attendance. The reasons for the change included
problems with the sound system at the National Hockey Center which
prevented many people, including the graduates, from hearing speakers.
This led to a growing problem with distractive conversations taking place
during the ceremony. Tech will graduate on May 29 and Apollo on May 30.
Both ceremonies begin at 7:30 p.m.
Online Parent Tool
Tech will be using an
online information tool for parents called SMARTWebXP. Developed by Region
1, a Moorhead-based computer services provider. SMARTWebXP can display
contact information, lunch data, semester grades, absences, schedules and
more. To gain access, print out, complete and mail the completed
application.
Check Your Child's Lunch Account Balance
Families and staff can check
their food account balance
and date of last transaction. You will be prompted to enter a PIN number.
Parents: this is the same PIN your child uses to purchase breakfast,
lunch, milk and a la carte items. Forgot that PIN? Contact your school's
office.
