Day 3 of your adventure begins here!
Today is your first day of class!
- Reread Chapter 8 - The Potions Master - and
Chapter 9 - The Midnight Duel, from the book Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone.
- Prepare your journal by labeling today's page
with "Monday" and then include today's date.
- As you compose your journal for Monday be
sure to use each of the following words, using the meaning you found in your
book for the word, at least one time. Make them orange
in your document. (You may "copy and paste" this list by
highlighting the words on this web page, right-clicking, choosing
"copy," and then pasting the list into your journal so you have
them all on hand to use as you write) : cheek
(NOT the cheek of your face), cozy (NOT a feeling, this is a thing),
dunderheads, fungi, rickety, seeping, shimmering, simmering, ward, beckon,
gloatingly, hobbled, hovering, javelin, quaver, toppled
You jump out of bed and look at your schedule for today, which has
magically appeared on the table in your room! It seems that you'll be
going to one class this morning but that your day is full of other activities as
well.
Monday looks like this:
8:00 Breakfast
9:00 Tour of Hogwarts
12:30 Lunch
1:00 Transfiguration - Professor McGonagall
3:00 Flying Lesson
5:30 Dinner
10:00 Lights Out
Let's get going, this is going to be great!
Don't forget to make an entry in your journal for each activity of the
day! Include your whole experience! Don't forget to mention what you
do, see, hear, taste, touch. smell, and especially how you feel about it!
This is YOUR experience, so you are in charge of what happens to you at every
turn!
8:00 Breakfast

As you sit down in the dining hall you are amazed at the surroundings you
see. You hear the chatter of other students as they eat. You notice
a few "ghostly" servers drifting overhead with platters of eggs,
sausage, bacon, toast, muffins, and pitchers of orange juice. You notice
the ceiling is ever changing and this morning the sky is stormy. You
wonder if it is actually going to start raining indoors! No one else seems
concerned, however, so you put your attention to your food and making some new
friends. Suddenly, you realize the ceiling has opened to admit a large
number of owls. Hedwig lands before you with an invitation to Hagrid' Hut
this evening at 7:00.
- Design the invitation as you believe Hagrid would. Show the front
and inside of the note. Be sure you choose colors, fonts, and pictures
that fit the occasion. Save this in your Journal so you can include it
in your scrapbook later.
9:00 Tour of Hogwarts
Harry, Ron, and Hermoine come to find you and show you around the school
grounds. Wow! You can't wait to get started! They tell
you that they are going to bring you into a secret passage they found last year and that you might
have an adventure there!
Make a hallway all your very own and make sure you remember all the things
you see and do so you can journal about it when you get back!
- Before you come back here, take a picture of your hallway by pressing the
"print screen" button and pasting that image into your
journal.
12:00 Lunch
1:00 Transfiguration - Professor McGonagall
You remember Harry's first transfiguration class. You can't imagine
why it would be fun to turn an animal into a water goblet, as you think it would
be much more fun to turn a water goblet into an animal!
- Click on the link below to view a "typical" Hogwarts
classroom.
Don't forget to click and drag your mouse in the direction you'd like to
turn so you can get a 360 degree view of the classroom and the office of the
teacher.

- Journal about what happens to you and your friends in YOUR first
transfiguration class. What did you change into what? What was
the outcome?
3:00 Flying Lessons

Wow, you are even going to get a chance to try out a broom! Now this
is pretty important as you can't try out for a Quidditch position unless you can
fly.
!
- Journal
all your thoughts and feelings about what you
do and feel the first time you fly.
5:30
Dinner
- Dinner is a pretty fancy affair at Hogwarts. What did you have for dinner?
How was it served? Did anything out of the ordinary
happen?
7:00 Hagrid's Hut for Tea

You are looking forward to going to Hagrid's! When you get there you
look all around the room!
Make sure you click and drag your cursor so that you can see a 360 degree
view of the room!
- Journal all about Hagrid's Hut and any new creatures he may have had on
hand to show you as you visited.
-
On the way back to your room, you have a little trouble with the moving
staircases!
-
Push the button below to play the game. Use
"print screen" to take a snapshot of your score when you are done!
10:00 Lights Out
You are exhausted! What a first day you've had! Just before you
shut off the lights, you pick up your journal and finish writing for the day!
- Add any details and pictures you don't want to forget to your Journal!
- Rate your day using this handy rating rubric! Run off one copy of the following document: Using a pencil or black pen, rate your day. Don’t forget to thoughtfully write your reflections! Then, save your document in the required location, or print it off, whichever your teacher has indicated, and hand in your rubric. Don’t forget your name!
