Literacy
Workplace Literacy is more than just being
able to read and write. It is a combination of skills that are needed
to function effectively in the work environment. These skills include:
- decision-making
- critical thinking
- identifying and solving problems
- setting goals
- speaking and writing effectively
Employers and employees both benefit from increase basic
skills in the workplace.

One of the best investments an employer can make is providing employees
with the opportunity to learn
Central Minnesota partners with Gold 'n Plump
Poultry in Cild Spring to provide English as a Second Language
classes to emplyees. Over 20 adults attended classes from
October through April, improving their English and work
skills in the process
Employees gain rewards and recognition from
their employers in the form of better pay, promotion, job
security and career opportunities
Benefits to employers from Workplace Literacy
programs include employees who are more responsive, flexible,
and better able to take on new responsibilities
