Volunteer / One-to-One Tutoring Programs

ABE Volunteer / Tutoring Program

Volunteer Program - ABE will train you to become a Literacy or English language tutor. After training, volunteers tutors are paired with an adult learner. You will receive curriculum guidance, ongoing support and supervision. The goals of the ABE Volunteer Program are:

  • Tutor adults in basic reading and writing, conversational English, or U.S. history and government for citizenship
  • Build bridges to help learners apply what they are learning to meet their needs in their everyday lives
  • Promote a positive image of Adult Basic Education

One-to-One Tutoring - Trained volunteer tutors are paired with learners to help them with basic reading and writing, conversational English, or U.S. history and government for U.S. citizenship.

The "tutor/learner" pairs meet weekly in libraries, schools or other community buildings.

Learners in the one-to-one tutor program may also attend the ABE/ESL classroom or may be exclusively tutored.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer tutor or if you would like One-to-One tutoring call 320-529-6500, ext, 6202 or e-mail us at abe@isd742.org.
