GED Diploma Program - Preparation & Testing

The General Educational Development (GED) Test is a nationally recognized high school equivalency exam. Central MN ABE offers several classes designed to help adults pass the GED Test. Adults must be 19 years of age before they can take the GED Test, although the state of Minnesota grants age waivers in some cases.

The GED Test covers the core academic areas of language arts, social studies, science, and mathematics. One portion of the test also requires candidates to write a short essay. The GED Test is based on outcomes similar to those found in a traditional four year program of secondary school education in the United States and Canada. Upon completion of the five test subjects, a high school equivalency diploma is awarded by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Preparation classes are designed to fit the needs of busy adults.

GED Testing is available two to three times per month, including one Saturday. Although it is possible for a candidate to take all five test in one sitting, it is recommended that a person spread it out over two or three sittings. There is a nominal fee charged for testing. Please come to the Adult Basic Education to register for the GED classes and the GED test. For Further information please call 320-529-6500, ext. 6202 or e-mail us at abe@isd742.org.
